As anyone familiar with even the smallest snippets of Dead Space promo art would know, things don’t look good for the Ishimura, and within a matter of hours the ship is dead, and the original Dead Space game begins with a salvage crew discovering the massacre.I originally played Dead Space Extraction when it was on the wii, cooperatively with my brother. The game kicks off with the colony of Aegis VII uncovering a mysterious marker, and after the planet goes to hell a small team works to find sanctuary in the USG Ishimura, a “planet cracker” ship responsible for the excavation of the marker. For all those interested in an action shooter with one of the largest narrative efforts on the system, however, Extraction is a must-play.Įxtraction is an origins tale, and as such it takes on some awesome creative liberties within its limited timeline and range. If that isn’t your cup of tea, Extraction won’t be able to convince you to love it. It’s action first, story a close (and contesting) second, and horror a distant and lagging third. Where Dead Space was out to have you questioning what was behind every corner, Extraction embraces the grim inevitability of the cast and crew. Instead, Extraction blends first person “light gun” action with a prequel story and plenty of narration. Dead Space Extraction, brought to the Wii by the newly formed EA Visceral Games and third party developer Eurocom, isn’t out to do what its predecessor accomplished. It was out to scare you, and for the most part gamers that walked the haunted halls of the USG Ishimura were scared, and loved most every minute of it. The original Dead Space for 360/PS3/PC was a horror game. It’s a different breed, but Extraction is still 100% Dead Space._ _EA’s Visceral Games and developer Eurocom raise the bar on Wii light gun-style shooters.
